Great British Yarns is an online stockist of knitting yarn and needles, together with patterns and accessories. You will find a wide range of knitting yarns from skeins of natural and organic fibre through to striking hand dyed yarns in vibrant colours. We also aim to support and promote British craftspeople and this is reflected in our buttons, stitch markers and notecards.

Our suppliers are a wide range of yarn and wool enthusiasts, ranging from small mills to urban dyers! As you would expect, their yarns are also wide ranging from cashmere, alpaca and silk to organic wool. Whether your preference is for knitting socks, hats, jumpers or blankets we hope you will find the perfect yarn here.

We aim to despatch your order within 24 hours of receipt. We also ship worldwide and details of our international shipping rates can be found on the terms and conditions page. We accept payment by all major debit and credit cards and PayPal. Postage and packing for orders £50 and over are free for UK Customers.

The Diatom Shawl takes its inspiration directly from nature, mimicking the ornate structure of its unicellular namesake. This impressive shawl is knit from the center-out, where the central motif grows into ever-widening ribs of lace. A beautiful, scalloped edge is highlighted with complementary colors that transition into progressively darker shades. Transforming science into art, this shawl uses a deceptively simple pattern to create this stunning effect.

Kit includes a total of ten 50 gram balls of Palette along with instructions for the Diatom Shawl:

You will need US 6 (4 mm) DPNs and 32" or longer circular needles, or size to obtain gauge, yarn needle and stitch markers.
