Ulysse is, like its big brother Gilliatt, a woollen spun yarn made from a blend of white French Mérinos d'Arles (Provence) and black Portuguese merino (Alentejo valley) raised with a concern for the well-being of the animals and the valorisation of their wool.

Made up of two well-twisted strands, it is a light, soft and delicately fluffy sport weight yarn which is perfect for fair isle and colorwork but also for drawing delicate cables or enhancing a beautifully rustic lace.

Composition and Yardage:
French mérinos d'Arles and Portuguese black merino woollen spun in France. 202 yards (185 m) / 50 g approx.

Gauge (for 10 x 10 cm of st st):
24 st x 38 rows, 3 mm needles / US 2
22 st x 34 rows, 3,5 mm needles / US 4

Ulysse is my favourite yarn

De Rerum Natura Ulysse is now firmly my fabourite yarn - 100% wool, sheepy but not too rustic & scratchy, great toothiness for colourwork, soft enough for next-to-skin wear. Wears very well too - I've a sweater in it that's seen a fair amount of wear over 7 years and it still looks nearly new and hasn't even bobbled much at all. And GBY offer the best price for it I've found online! Very happy customer.

Lovely selection of yarns!

I love Great British Yarns, they always have such lovely yarns available, and it was especially nice to get a handwritten card with my order! Everything was delivered quickly, I will certainly be coming back when I start a new project!

This yarn is so nice to knit with, and it's also good to know that the sheep who produced it were treated kindly
